About NextGen
Skills Foundation
Building a scalable digital skills system for schools and communities across South Africa.
About the
Foundation
NextGen Skills Foundation exists to bridge the digital skills gap in South Africa. We deliver practical digital skills training across schools and communities equipping young people with the tools to create, build, and earn in the modern digital economy.
We operate as a Program Management Organisation we design the programs, manage partnerships, secure funding, and ensure quality. Schools and partner institutions handle delivery.
Our model is scalable, partnership-driven, and designed to grow from a 5-school pilot to a nationally recognised digital education system.
Our Mission
To deliver practical digital skills training that equips learners and communities with tools for real-world opportunities.
Our Vision
To build a South Africa where every young person has access to digital skills and opportunities in the digital economy.
What We Do
School Digital Skills Program - We deliver structured, grade-based digital skills training in schools from Grade 7 to Grade 11.
Community Digital Skills Program - We provide flexible, short-term digital training through partnerships with colleges and community institutions.
Prince Makhosini
Sokupha
Chairperson · Web Developer · Digital Entrepreneur
Founded by Prince Makhosini Sokupha, a web developer and digital creator, the foundation was built on a vision to make digital skills accessible to every young person in South Africa.
With experience in web development and digital design, he identified a gap in practical digital education and is building a scalable system that reaches both schools and communities.
A Scalable System Built
for National Reach
We do not run training facilities. We build systems, manage programs, and empower partners to deliver at scale.
Inside Schools
The School Digital Skills Program is delivered directly inside partner schools. Schools provide space and infrastructure. We provide curriculum, facilitators, and equipment through funding.
Through Partners
The Community Digital Skills Program is delivered through colleges, community centres, and training institutions. We provide curriculum and quality assurance. Partners manage learner intake and facilitation.
Standardised Curriculum
All programs follow a standardised, quality-assured curriculum designed by the foundation ensuring consistent outcomes regardless of which school or institution delivers it.
Scalable Nationally
Starting with a 5-school pilot in Gauteng, scaling to 20 schools in Year 1, and expanding nationally over time with a long-term vision of dedicated NextGen Skills Centres across South Africa.
